During the Tournament

Lines In/Out

  • LINES IN THE WATER will be at 5:00 am sharp on August 16 (bait may be caught beforehand)

  • LINES OUT OF THE WATER will be at 3:00 pm sharp on August 16 (fish submissions are accepted through the app up until 3:30 pm on August 16, videos must be time stamped between 5:00am and 3:00pm)

Fishing Boundaries

  • Bluefin Tuna, Bluefish and Black Sea Bass may be fished for in both state and federal waters. Striped Bass must be fished for and caught in state waters only, inside the 3nm line. Any Striped Bass submitted from outside 3nm will be disqualified.

  • All fish must be caught on a rod and reel and within the compliance of the law

Fish Measuring

  • Striped Bass and Bluefish: measured using straight line length (not curved over the body). Measure from the tip of the jaw (closed mouth) to the end of the tail (pushed together to obtain greatest length)

  • Black Sea Bass: measured using straight line length (not curved over the body). Measure from the tip of the jaw (closed mouth) to the end of the tail (pushed together to obtain greatest length) not including the tail filament.

  • Bluefin Tuna: exact measurement is not necessary for this tournament, a video of the Bluefin (in or out of the water) with the tournament tape measure in the frame is sufficient. If you would like to measure a bluefin use the curved fork length. This is in a line, tracing the contour of the body from the tip of the upper jaw to the fork of the tail.

Fish Submitting

  • All fish submissions must be made through the Monomoy Shootout app.

  • All submitted fish must be;

    • Measured with the 2024 tournament issued measuring tape

    • Video recorded clearly showing the length of the fish (video recorded with the tournament measuring tape clearly in the frame for Bluefin, exact measurement not necessary for Bluefin)

    • Released and swim away to qualify (fish release must be in submitted video)

  • Submission videos for Striped Bass, Bluefish and Black Sea Bass must be taken with the camera directly over the fish pointing downward with the whole fish and tape in frame. Tape and fish in frame for Bluefin Tuna.

  • Any videos that are not clear to the judges will not be accepted.

  • The Shootout Committee will determine final rulings on the length of all fish submitted.

  • The Shootout Committee reserves the right to disqualify a video for any possible rules violations

  • The Shootout Committee will not be responsible for any submissions that fail to arrive before the deadline (3:30pm) due to any technical reasons (charge your phones!)

  • Shootout Committee rulings are final and fair (it’s for charity and a fun time)

  • We know everyone is tech savvy but please no photoshop or filters
