The goal and mission of the Monomoy Shootout is to create a lasting legacy of fun, camaraderie and charitable impact with the focus on Type One Diabetes (“T1D”). T1D is an autoimmune disease in which insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas are mistakenly destroyed by the body’s immune system. While there are advanced treatments supporting those that live with T1D, there is currently no cure. There are many people and families within the NCO family and community of friends that are impacted by this disease. NCO, the Monomoy Shootout and The Lillylulu Foundation are teaming up to become an increasing force in T1D research (via The T1D Fund www. t1dfund.org and JDRF www.jdrf.org) as well as to support underserved areas of need and populations impacted by T1D, of which there are many.
